New member of the PURUS PLASTICS dual leadership team.

Richard Metzler succeeds Thomas Manzei and takes over the position of Managing Director of PURUS PLASTICS GmbH in Arzberg on July 1, 2023.

The Swiss native, who grew up in Munich, has known PURUS for years and appreciates the unique corporate culture. “We will build on, continue and expand,” says Metzler, who wants to expand PURUS through innovative growth and strengthen it in the face of increasing competition. For him, a clear and stringent customer and product focus is essential.

Waltraud Zeisel remains at his side as a member of the management board. While she primarily manages the commercial processes, Richard Metzler is responsible for the technical and sales areas.

“In times of increasing importance of recycling, CO₂ and plastic waste, we are very pleased that we were able to win Mr. Metzler as our preferred candidate for PURUS,” says Thomas Manzei, who will continue to support PURUS in an advisory capacity after his departure.

As a graduate industrial engineer (FH), Metzler has more than 40 years of practical experience in various industries and possesses both extensive commercial knowledge and in-depth technical understanding of plastics processing.

PURUS PLASTICS is looking forward to the new member of the dual leadership team and to continuing to be an important part of the successful Dettmer Group with sustained growth.

Joining forces: bopal + PURUS PLASTICS.

PURUS PLASTICS and bopal are joining forces and forming a strategic partnership in the plastic pallets sector. PURUS, known as a 360° recycler and manufacturer of sustainable load carriers, is thus drawing on the in-depth experience and market knowledge of Fred Bohland, Managing Director of bopal. Both parties will work closely together in the future to further develop and expand their own product range. Bohland will take on the role of Business Development Manager, providing direct support to the Bavarian manufacturer. Richard Metzler, CEO of PURUS PLASTICS, sees numerous advantages for customers in the close cooperation: “We are creating sustainable customer benefits with customized, new and innovative load carriers. PURUS PLASTICS zeigt auf der LogiMAT 2025 in Stuttgart den Prototypen der FIDUS heavy 1208 – unsere Alternative zur herkömmlichen EURO Holzpalette.

„Mit der neuen Heavy von PURUS“, so Vertriebsleiter Peter Hendrikson, „verbinden wir alle Vorteile einer modernen Kunststoffpalette mit dem beliebtesten Palettenformat am Markt.“

Die neue FIDUS weicht nicht von den bekannten Maßen ab. In hybrider Bauweise gefertigt, verstärkt durch ein Metallgitter, sind zahlreiche Features möglich. Die RFID-Taschen, die schnelle „smart-repair“-Bauweise und die Individualisierungsoptionen runden die FIDUS heavy 1208 ab.

Less wood means more

The wooden pallet in Euro format has held its own for decades, but wood alone has its limits and is simply not suitable for some applications.

PURUS PLASTICS sets the course for the future

The continuing upward trend and the record turnover of 28.5 million euros last year allow PURUS PLASTICS to plan the future with confidence. Important steps are being taken to lay the foundations for further growth.

Reorganization of sales

Thomas Keller will take over the newly created position of “Sales Manager PURUS PLASTICS” and assume this responsible position on April 1, 2022. As the previous team leader of the ECORASTER® product division, he will take over the management of the entire sales department, including the plastic pallets, cable reels and green roofs departments.

Company founder and Managing Director Jürgen Manzei was responsible for the company’s sales from its foundation until he left the operational business and has been working in an advisory capacity ever since. “It is an important step to create and fill this position. Mr. Keller has been with the company for more than 10 years and has proven in the area he is responsible for that he has the skills to implement growth targets and develop structures. He also has the courage to break new ground, which is important in sales,” says Jürgen Manzei.

The Recycling Pioneers from Arzberg are thus filling the responsible position from within their own ranks: “We are delighted that an internal candidate was able to assert himself during the application process and convince us. For months, the further strategic development of sales has been worked out and planned in close dialog with the management. Mr. Keller was already involved in this,” says Managing Director Thomas Manzei about the decision.

Managing Director Waltraud Zeisel on this step. “We have our sights firmly set on the future and are developing strategies that are a prerequisite for the further development of the company. We are proud that we have a team at PURUS that supports and implements these developments. Mr. Keller has been part of this team for a long time and has already led the way in the past. We are convinced that he will do the same in his new role and master the challenges ahead.”

PURUS PLASTICS continues to anticipate strong sales growth in all areas and has a positive outlook for the future.
