One system – many applications

Perfect for pitched roofs, monopitch roofs and flat roofs

There are well over twenty different roof shapes! The most popular forms are probably the pitched roof, the flat roof and, for some years now, the extended monopitch roof. ECOgreen® PACK is suitable for Almost all roof shapes, flat and pitched. ECOgreen® PACK is a “do-it-yourself solution”, especially for flat roofs around private homes, for example carports, prefabricated concrete garages or terraces. Tradesmen from the roof sector – usually without green fingers – can become roof greeners in no time at all.

Is your project a partially greened roof terrace? Do you need to create maintenance paths? Then it’s best to combine ECOgreen® PACK withECORASTER® Bloxx. The ground grid system from PURUS PLASTICS is a German branded product and falls into the category of sealant-free ground reinforcement. Each ground grid is filled with four concrete blocks (granite on request) and securely hooked to the next grid. This provides additional safety on the roof!

Notes

Please think about your safety… and that of other people:
Wear your PPE and the protective clothing required for the work (gloves, safety goggles, safety shoes, etc.) when working on the roof.

To ensure the success of your green roof, please observe the following instructions:

Clean the roof surface with a broom, measure the laying area and sketch the laying plan with a 60 cm x 40 cm grid.

The roof waterproofing and root protection must be carried out in accordance with FLL. If the existing roof waterproofing contains bitumen, a barrier fleece must be applied before installation.

ECOgreen® PACK must be laid within 48 hours of delivery. If this deadline cannot be met, the goods must be unpacked, stored flat and watered to prevent damage to the plants. If necessary, cut the modules using a circular saw, angle grinder or similar. Make sure you have a suitable base. Please remember your personal fall protection equipment (to be worn in accordance with the PPE usage regulations). If the edge modules have to be cut, ensure that they are immediately adjacent to gravel, for example. After laying, water the finished surface with 5 – 10 liters / m2. Rainwater drainage must be ensured at all times. Appropriate technical precautions must be taken for this purpose. In the area of drains, an area of 400 mm around the drain must be left out and filled with gravel.

The structure of the building on which the ECOgreen® PACK is installed must be permanently designed for an additional load in accordance with the maximum water retention. In case of doubt, please contact an architect or structural engineer for a static recalculation of your supporting structure. The maximum pitch of the roof surface must not exceed 35 %. For greater inclinations, a case-by-case assessment is necessary. Access to the roof must be secured for annual maintenance. Taking into account the required pressure, a water supply should be provided on the roof. With a slope of up to 20 % and ECOgreen® PACK modules installed less than 10 m behind each other, no additional shear protection is required apart from the gravel stop.

Irrigation is required in the event of prolonged drought. The roof must be inspected at least once a year. Please remember your personal fall protection equipment (to be worn in accordance with the PPE usage regulations). This involves removing unwanted vegetation, checking the drainage and, if necessary, removing unwanted vegetation from the gravel strip.

Green roofs offer many advantages for people and the environment.

Green roofs are part of a modern appearance and offer nature new spaces in our predominantly gray cities. A green roof not only enhances the appearance of the property! In fact, a green roof offers numerous ecological and economic advantages:

  • A green roof provides effective heat protection in summer. The evaporation of the collected water ensures noticeable cooling and sufficient humidity. In addition, the plant cover does not heat up nearly as much as a surface covered with gravel or bitumen. Protecting the roof from intensive UV exposure increases its service life.
  • A green roof has an insulating effect and helps the building to reduce heat loss through the roof. This saves energy costs.
  • A green roof absorbs sound. Less noise can penetrate the building. A significant increase in the quality of life and work.
  • Green spaces are able to purify the air. In urbanized areas, these areas relieve the burden on people and reduce exposure to pollutants and particulate matter.
  • A modern green roof also has the task of storing precipitation to a certain extent. Excess rainfall is buffered and fed into the drainage system at a reduced rate. This relieves the drainage system and reduces the factors for flooding.
  • Depending on the region, there are state subsidies and crediting options, including lower precipitation fees.
