Parking lot in Bayreuth – durable and permeable parking spaces with ECORASTER
A parking lot was constructed in Bayreuth that features a surface paving system which is both durable and permeable. The goal of the project was to create a cost-effective and sustainable solution that meets the requirements for passenger car parking spaces while avoiding complete soil sealing.
Eco-friendly parking spaces
The ECORASTER ground grid system was used for the installation. The grid elements were laid on a properly prepared subbase and filled with suitable material. This creates a stable and durable surface that reliably withstands the daily traffic loads from passenger cars.
The open structure of the floor grates allows rainwater to seep directly into the ground. This reduces surface runoff and keeps the area usable even when it rains. At the same time, this solution helps relieve the burden on the sewer system and supports the natural water cycle.
Another advantage is the visual integration of the area: depending on the design, the parking lot can be landscaped, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
