Fire department access areas

Due to the high quality and high load-bearing capacity of ECORASTER ground grids, they are not only used in private areas, but also in public areas. This modern type of ground reinforcement is also used in connection with fire stations, for example, to ensure optimum conditions on site.

But what does this actually mean in detail? And how can an appropriate surface ensure that fire engines and the like can leave the site easily?

One thing is certain: Ground grids in the fire department access area can help the fire department to reach the scene of an emergency as quickly as possible. After all, it is, among other things, a reliable form of ground reinforcement that ensures that nothing stands in the way of the mobility of cars and trucks.

Whether in the driveway area or on the corresponding parking spaces: Turf grids can be individually and flexibly integrated into the areas around a fire station and are therefore a popular alternative to classic concrete floors.

The requirements

Driveways or access roads and installation/movement areas for the fire department must be reinforced to withstand an axle load of up to 10 metric tonnes and a permissible total weight of 16 metric tonnes (min. load class in accordance with the German road construction regulation RStO 12). The characteristics of gravel turf (basic construction) no longer fulfills the requirements of the load class according to RStO 12.

in focus. After all, a ground grid for a fire department access road is an important detail from which the station in question should benefit over a period of several years. This is why ECORASTER ground grids are characterized by their impressive stability, which ensures that even the weight of heavy emergency vehicles is no problem and that they can move flexibly on the surface in question, even under time pressure.

The solution

The ECORASTER ground stabilization system reinforces the surfaces without sealing it. Despite very high load values (up to 800 to/m² depending on fill material), rainwater/fire-fighting water can drain away, usually without the need for an expensive drainage system in the base. The use of ECORASTER systems guarantees that aerial rescue trucks reach the incident site swiftly and can be positioned safely.

Regardless of whether it is to withstand particular stresses, to defend itself against wind and weather, to be used at events (such as fire department festivals) or with regard to resistance to particularly warm or cold temperatures: the respective surface is required.

ECORASTER ground reinforcement grids are therefore characterized by a convincing mix of high-quality materials and durable workmanship, creating an ideal basis for high visual and functional standards.

Users also benefit from the ability to flexibly determine the content of the ground reinforcement grids. In view of the fact that fire stations in particular often have to cope with the heavy weight of trucks and the like, it makes sense to opt for a stable variant based on concrete or gravel. In connection with other, less frequented areas on the property, the use of grass can of course also be considered.
