Project description
Renovation of a water retention basin in Rehau using ECORASTER. As part of a landscaping and erosion control project in Rehau (Bavaria), an existing water retention basin was professionally renovated and permanently protected against erosion and soil loss. The goal was to stabilize the slopes and areas along the basin’s banks in order to minimize the effects of rain and surface runoff in a sustainable manner and protect the surrounding environment in the long term. For this reason, the ECORASTER ground grid system was used for erosion control and slope stabilization.
Reliable erosion control with ECORASTER
For this application, the ECORASTER S50 proved to be a particularly suitable solution: Thanks to its flexible, “chain-link-like” grid structure, the S50 adapts perfectly to the existing terrain, reliably stabilizes the subsoil, and reduces soil erosion on sloped surfaces. The open-cell structure also creates a permeable surface that allows rainwater to seep away safely rather than running off the surface—a crucial factor in the design of stormwater retention systems and slope stabilization measures.
The installation of ECORASTER elements has created a durable, permeable erosion control surface that both supports the natural water cycle and prevents deformation and erosion of the topsoil. The modular grid structure is particularly well-suited for long-term vegetation growth when combined with vegetation or topsoil material, ensuring that the stabilized slopes are not only functional but also ecologically sustainable.
This solution significantly improved the stability of the water retention basin in Rehau—a clear example of how modular ground grid systems like ECORASTER can be used not only for traditional ground reinforcement but also effectively for erosion control and site stabilization.
