Pool area in Arzberg – Well-designed surround with ECORASTER Bloxx

Pool surround with ECORASTER. In this project, the area around a private swimming pool in Arzberg, Upper Franconia, was functionally reinforced and visually enhanced using the ECORASTER Bloxx ground grid system. The pool surround creates a permanently stable, water-permeable surface that poses no obstacles to summer water fun—neither from standing moisture nor from unwanted puddles.

The total area of the paved pool surround is approximately 40 m² and was completed in 2012. The combination of the robust ECORASTER Bloxx system—with its paving-style appearance and permeable structure—makes it possible to create a low-maintenance, safe walking surface around the pool that is also aesthetically pleasing. Thanks to the soil’s permeability, rainwater is directed directly into the ground rather than collecting on the surface—a clear advantage over conventional sealed surfaces, which are particularly prone to problems with surface runoff and moisture buildup in pool areas. The use of ECORASTER Bloxx has created a high-quality, functional surround that meets both the practical requirements for anchoring and drainage and the design needs of private outdoor spaces. The modular structure allows for aesthetically flexible design—such as a checkerboard pattern or contrasting colors—while also providing a durable, slip-resistant surface that is comfortable to walk on even barefoot.
